Serious Pink

Serious Pink I-IV is a series of 4 canvas-on-board paintings completed in 2021. These paintings feature vibrant pinks and magenta tones with iridescent gold and black ink accents. They are otherworldy, intuitive works that imagine a colorful dreamscape. The color pink is so often gendered and/or carries infantilizing connotations, but this gallery wall set is a study in “serious pink.” These works were inspired by the playful quote by artist Howard Hodgkin: “Can you imagine a serious pink next to a trivial blue or even a ridiculous black?”
